Hi Guys,
I am doing some volunteer teaching work with a family of 4 immigrants, they are all beginner basic level, very shy but great have a great sense of humour. being the same family any type of "Introduction" game is pointless . . does anyone have ideas for games for small groups, or links to sites that may have? We have a very limited space, so that restricts movement somewhat.

Thanks in anticipation

I like the game where you put a word or picture of an object/person on a flashcard and tape it to the person's back (so everyone else can see it). Each person has a card on their back (or forehead) and can ask three questions (e.g.) of the others which require a yes or no answer in order to guess 'what' or 'who they are'. They continue to ask questions until they guess correctly.

For a beginner level simple nouns might work.
e.g. an apple

-Is it a food?
-Is it a vegetable etc.

One could also do the game with numbers or letters for very basic levels with the questions being replaced by making sounds or guessing numbers. Great activity to keep the mind/get the mind thinking in English.
I always found the game ´taboo´ helpful and fun. You show a word to one person, and he-she has to explain it to the others without saying the actual word. It´s better if you make it a competition (two teams) where the first team to ´ring in´wins the point. Also the game password (similar)
